The Genesee County Board of Commissioners, through the Metropolitan Planning Commission, made significant investments in District 4 (see map below) in 2024 and is poised to make more in 2025.
The funding comes from three main sources: Community Development Block Grants (CDBG), the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA), and Transportation Improvement Program (TIP).

For the fiscal year 2024, the county invested nearly $7.3 million in District 4, which includes parts of the City of Flint, Flint Township, Mundy Township and Grand Blanc Township. The funds enhanced local infrastructure and the overall quality of life for residents.
A wide range of projects designed to address community needs were funded, including road surface improvements, and public facility upgrades that will enhance essential services and accessibility for all citizens. Additionally, much-needed funding for senior centers, senior activities, vocational independence and crime/fire prevention were also allocated
Infrastructure improvements were also a major part of the overall investment, including funds for water/sewer line installation in Mundy Township. Beyond that, there was more than $4.5 million invested in road improvements across the District, including Mundy, Flint and Grand Blanc Townships.
And here’s the best news: There’s more to come!
Planned investments for 2025 will surpass $5.4 million, addressing more of the needs listed above as well as a pair of $100,000 grants to the Mundy Township Senior & Enrichment Center and the Grand Blanc Senior Center for the purchase of a new van and for interior upgrades, respectively.

The largest share of the investment ($2.5 million) for 2025 is allocated to the Embury Road Trail (Grand Blanc Township) and the West Baldwin Road bridge replacement project (Mundy Township).
There’s also a pair of road improvements coming to Mundy Township on Grand Blanc Road and North Fenton Road.
These investments underscore the commitment of the Genesee County Board of Commissioners and the Metropolitan Planning Commission to promote healthy, safe and livable communities in District 4 and across Genesee County.
