The Genesee County Board of Commissioners, through the Metropolitan Planning Commission, made significant investments in District 7 (see map below) in 2024 and is poised to make more in 2025.
The funding comes from three main sources: Community Development Block Grants (CDBG), the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA), and Transportation Improvement Program (TIP).

For the fiscal year 2024, overall investments exceeded $5.8 million in District 7. The funds enhanced local infrastructure and the overall quality of life for residents.
A wide range of projects designed to address community needs were funded, including road reconstruction projects and public facility improvements that will upgrade essential services and accessibility for all citizens. Additionally, job training programs, programs for youth and seniors were also funded.
Infrastructure improvements were also a major part of the overall investment, including funds for roof and septic repairs as well a major lead line identification and remediation project in the City of Clio.
The largest share of the funding was for road replacements, reconstruction and resurfacing across the northern tier of Genesee County including Clio, Vienna Township, Mt. Morris Township, Montrose Township and the City of Montrose. The projects included bridge replacements on Linden Road and Elms Road.
And here’s the best news: There’s more to come!
Planned investments for FY 2025 will surpass $2.7 million, addressing more of the needs addressed above as well as the allocation of $100,000 grants to each of the four senior centers in District 7: Clio Area Senior Center, Thetford Senior Center, Montrose Senior Center and Krapohl Senior Center.
These investments underscore the commitment of the Genesee County Board of Commissioners and the Metropolitan Planning Commission to promote healthy, safe and livable communities in District 7 and across Genesee County.
