The Genesee County Board of Commissioners, through the Metropolitan Planning Commission, made significant investments in District 9 (see map below) in 2024 and is poised to make more in 2025.
The funding comes from three main sources: Community Development Block Grants (CDBG), the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA), and Transportation Improvement Program (TIP).

For the fiscal year 2024, overall investments exceeded $1.3 million in District 9. The funds enhanced local infrastructure and the overall quality of life for residents.
A wide range of projects designed to address community needs were funded, including public facility improvements that will upgrade essential services and accessibility for all citizens. Additionally, food pantry assistance was provided in Davison Township and Richfield Township reflecting our commitment to addressing food insecurity in the county, connecting vulnerable populations to the resources they need.
Infrastructure improvements were also a major part of the overall investment, including funds for roof and home repairs as well as blight elimination efforts targeting properties that have fallen into disrepair.
And here’s the best news: There’s more to come!
Planned investments for FY 2025 will surpass $1.6 million, addressing more of the needs addressed above as well as roadway reconstruction projects on North Genesee and Belsay Roads.
Infrastructure improvements are a critical focus in 2025. For example, the Village of Otisville will $600,000 in funding for the relining and update to its sewer lagoons.
The following senior centers will also receive $100,000 in funding for facility and program improvements: Eastside, Davison Richfield and Forest Township.
These investments underscore the commitment of the Genesee County Board of Commissioners and the Metropolitan Planning Commission to promote healthy, safe and livable communities in District 9 and across Genesee County.
