Derrick Britton, Director of Genesee County Department of Veterans Services, was honored to present a microgrant in the amount of 10,000 to VFW Flint Post 8236 on Saturday.

This microgrant is one of a total of 10 grant awards of up to $10,000 for non-profit organizations or municipalities. The funds can be used to meet needs including equipment, resources, or other one-time expenses to help enhance program offerings, as well as to improve accessibility for Veterans.

“We’re incredibly proud to be able to support local organizations meeting critical needs of Veterans,” said James Avery, Chair of the Genesee County Board of Commissioners. “One of our goals as a board is to cultivate growth in our community by supporting inclusive and collaborative initiatives like this one.”
