Genesee County, MI – The Mott Community College’s (MCC) Fine Arts Gallery will feature an exhibition of artworks by the Associate of Fine Arts Degree Candidates from the Studio Arts Program. This exhibition runs from Dec. 2 through Jan. 31, 2025.
The exhibition is a diverse fusion of styles and genres featuring Sam KayLynn Murphy of Mt. Morris, Belle Cartee of Flint, Logan Kuhn of Flint, Vance Cypher of Flint, Tea Henry of Beecher, Callahan Murphy Leonard of Swartz Creek, KJ McCluskey of Flint, Alexandrea Schrems of Reece, Jenna Stanislawski of Millington, and Veronica Usher Davenport of Flushing.
Students will present works that are part of an artist portfolio that they have been building for the duration of their degree. This degree is designed for students who plan to transfer to a university or art school and major in art or design. The program focuses on art foundation classes and general education requirements that will transfer to other institutions.
“Students in Mott Community College’s Studio Arts program take a variety of foundation-level and upper-level studio arts courses before graduating with their Associates of Fine Arts degree. Typically the class is taken just before graduating so their skills have a chance to emerge before showcasing them as a group,” said Tim Kranz, Professor of Art.
“This exhibition highlights the works of these 10 unique and skilled artists while celebrating their journey as Studio Art majors at Mott Community College,” Kranz added.
The MCC Fine Arts Gallery is located in room 128 of the Visual Arts and Design Center on the Mott Community College main campus in Flint at 1401 E. Court St. 48503. Gallery hours are 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. The exhibition and any presentations are free and open to the public. For more information call the Art and Design office at 810-762-0443.
MCC Fine Arts Gallery exhibitions are made possible in part by the Ballenger Trust.
