Genesee County, MI — On Wednesday evening, the Genesee County Board of Commissioners convened its regular meeting at 5:30 p.m.

The Board took the following actions:

  • Approved a grant award from the Michigan Indigent Defense Commission in the amount of $15,962,465.71 to support the operations of the Genesee County Office of the Public Defender for the upcoming fiscal year.
  • Approved a grant award from the Michigan State Police in the amount of $250,000 to provide for a medication-assisted treatment program. A required match of $62,500 will be provided by Genesee County’s Opioid Settlement Fund.
  • Approved six separate grant awards, one from the Michigan Health Endowment ($155,187) and five from the State Court Administrative Office, totaling $715,735 to support Genesee County’s specialty courts. These include Mental Health Court, Veteran’s Treatment Court, Family Dependency Court and Adult Felony Recovery Court.
  • Approved a grant award from the Michigan Department of Health & Human Services in the amount of $71,075 to provide support for victims of elder abuse.
  • Supported Genesee County’s Operation Green Light for Veterans campaign.
