Genesee County, MI — On Wednesday evening, the Genesee County Board of Commissioners convened its regular meeting at 5:30 p.m.

The Board took the following actions:

  • Approved the proposed Genesee County Housing Initiative in the amount of $12.8 million to provide for new housing development and a county-wide roof replacement program.
  • Approved a pair of grant awards from the Michigan State Police totaling $1,228,584 to provide for investigating and prosecuting cases involving automobile theft and related offenses.
  • Approved a grant award for the U.S. Department of Health & Human Services in the amount of $2,000,000 to provide for Genesee County’s Adult Felony Recovery and Veterans Treatment Court Programs.
  • Approved a pair of grant awards from the Michigan Department of Health & Human Services, for a total amount of $644,128, to provide for Genesee County’s STOP Violence Against Women efforts for Fiscal Year 2025 and for staffing for the Elder Abuse Task Force.
  • Approved an agreement between Genesee County and the Board of Trustee of Michigan State University to provide for MSU-Extension services in the fiscal year ending in 2025. MSU-Extension serves our residents with millage-funded programs supporting youth, strong communities, healthy families, and our natural resources.
  • Approved a grant award from the U. S. Department of Housing & Urban Development in the amount of $850,000 to support parks projects in the City of Swartz Creek, Mundy Township and Grand Blanc Township.
