Genesee County, MI — On Wednesday, District 8 Commissioner Dale K. Weighill was honored to speak at the 10th Annual Serenity House Walk and Rally at Memorial Park in downtown Flint.

The event celebrates those who are on the road to recovery, raises awareness regarding substance use disorder and furthers the goal of ending the stigma surrounding addiction.

“In Genesee County, we are committed to creating systems that recognize the complexity of addiction,” Weighill said. “From advocating for harm reduction strategies to approving medication-assisted treatment at the Genesee County Jail, our actions are guided by a belief in second chances and community advocacy.”

“We want Genesee County to be a place where addiction is understood and recovery is not just possible, but celebrated.”
