The Genesee County Board of Commissioners is seeking applicants to fill 3 positions on the Genesee, Lapeer, Shiawassee (GLS) Region V Planning and Development Commission. All three (3) vacant committee seats are for Genesee County representatives. The term is for one-year, with terms automatically renewing each year until otherwise changed.
The GLS Region V Planning and Development Commission serves as the Regional Planning Organization (RPO) for Genesee, Lapeer, and Shiawassee counties in Mid-Michigan providing planning assistance to county and local units of government within the region related to regional housing, solid waste management, annual pavement condition evaluations (commonly known as PASER), and recreational planning including DNR Trust Fund and Spark grants.
The Commission consists of a maximum of (16) members with a maximum of four (4) representatives from each of the Counties of Lapeer and Shiawassee, and eight (8) representatives from the County of Genesee. The members are elected officials, appointed officials, or citizen members. Each member county’s Board of Commissioners is solely responsible for selecting and removing its representatives and setting their term limits to the Region V Planning Commission.
