On Wednesday, September 18, the Genesee County Board of Commissioners convened for its regular meeting in the Willard P. Harris Auditorium at the Genesee County Administration Building.

Here are a few of the highlights:

  • Approved a pair of grant awards totaling $2.25 million to provide funding for Genesee County’s Nutrition Services Program and Neighborhood Service Center. Genesee County Community Action Resource Department (GCCARD) has been providing hot, nutritious meals to eligible persons throughout Genesee County since 1973.
  • Approved an agreement between Genesee County and the Mass Transportation Authority (MTA) in the amount of $160,000 to fund Vets to Wellness, a personalized transportation service for Veterans and their spouses.
  • Approved a pair of grant awards totaling $684,664 to provide for Crime Victims Services, the prosecution of violence against women, and law enforcement projects targeting violence against women at the Office of the Genesee County Prosecutor.
  • Approved an agreement with the Michigan Department of Transportation in the amount of $50,000 to provide for the Rideshare Program for 2025.
  • Approved the purchase of food and cleaning supplies for Genesee County’s Nutrition Services Program and Head Start Program in an amount not to exceed $1,255,224.20.
