On Wednesday evening, the Genesee County Board of Commissioners convened its regular meeting at 5:30 p.m.

The Board took the following actions:

  • Approved a grant award from the Health Resources and Services Administration in the amount of $997,416, to provide for Genesee County’s Healthy Start program.
  • Approved a request to accept a grant award from HHS/ACF in the amount of $14,791,831 to continue operation of Genesee County’s Head Start and Early Head Start programs.
  • Approved a 5-year agreement with Ring Central for state-of-the-art telephone services. The new, streamlined service will save county taxpayers $1 million over five years.
  • Approved a request to update the 2024 committee meeting schedule to improve access for residents. Committee meetings, which had been held in the morning, will now begin at 5:30 p.m. Regular meetings of the Board of Commissioners will remain at 5:30 p.m. Click here for the calendar.
  • Approved $75,000 in funding to support one additional Household Hazardous Waste Collection Day for residents. These incredibly popular events, a partnership between Genesee County Metropolitan Planning Commission and ERG Environmental Services, are fully booked within hours of registration opening.
  • Approved of a pair of agreements with My Brother’s Keeper of Genesee County and Catholic Charities (Genesee and Shiawassee Counties) for homeless veteran housing at two separate facilities. The funding for each agreement is not to exceed $75,000.
  • Approved a pair of grant application requests from the Genesee County Prosecutor’s Office, totaling $684,963, for two purposes: Prosecution and law enforcement projects that target sexual assault, domestic violence and stalking -AND- crime victim rights advocacy.
  • Approved an agreement with MacMillan Associates, Inc., to provide engineering and construction management services for the renovation of the historic foot bridge at Richfield County Park. The agreement is not to exceed $94,400.
