Genesee County, MI — Are you in need of assistance with your water bill? Eligible Genesee County residents can receive up to $3,000 to help clear outstanding water and wastewater bills through the Local Water Utility Affordability (LWUA) program, an initiative of the Genesee County Board of Commissioners administered by GCCARD. This initiative aims to alleviate the immediate financial strain for families in need, while underscoring the county’s commitment to promote healthy, livable and safe communities through access to vital services.

Eligible households will be at or below 200% of the federal poverty level (FPL).

Required Documentation:

  • Valid State ID (for all adult household members)
  • Social Security Numbers (for all household members)
  • Past 30 days of household income (check stubs, SS Benefits, SSI, retirement, etc.)
  • Past due water bill (lease agreement must be provided if bill is in landlord’s name)
  • Current DHHS Benefit Summary/Notice of Case Action (if applicable)
