Genesee County, MI — As the new school year approaches, it’s important for parents to ensure their children are prepared for kindergarten. Michigan law requires that all incoming kindergarteners have documented hearing and vision screenings presented to school officials by the first day of school.

To support parents in meeting this requirement, the Genesee County Health Department (GCHD) is offering free hearing and vision screenings throughout the summer. These screenings are conveniently available at various school districts across Genesee County as well as at the Health Department’s Burton Branch location.

Some screening clinics operate by appointment, so we encourage parents to reach out to the Health Department’s Hearing and Vision Program for more details. Don’t miss this opportunity to ensure your child is ready for a successful start to their educational journey.

For a complete schedule of upcoming screenings, please visit the Health Department’s Hearing and Vision Screening Program page.

Parents should call 810-257-3193 or email the Hearing and Vision Screening Program at gchd-hearingvision@geneseecountymi.gov for more information, including times and location for any of our upcoming clinics.

GCHD is committed to enhancing community well-being in Genesee County by preventing disease, promoting health, and protecting against environmental hazards. Our mission focuses on creating a healthier, safer environment for all residents.
