Thank you to everyone who has provided feedback on the Recycle Day events this year. In response to the high demand for appointments, the Genesee County Metropolitan Planning Commission (GCMPC) is now offering an appointment drawing for the next Recycle Day events. We hope this drawing will provide a fair and equitable chance of receiving an appointment.

You can enter your information for the drawing beginning on July 2 at 9 AM through July 3 at 5 PM, for the July 16 event. Residents will be randomly selected and will receive an email with event details on July 8. At the event, you will be required to show identification and your email verification. Those who are not randomly chosen will also be notified via email.

Please go to GCMPC’s Eventbrite page to enter your information.

Since 2019, there has been an approximately 240% increase in the cost of Recycle Day events. The huge increase limits GCMPC from serving the same number of residents as in previous years. We are diligently working toward developing a permanent household hazardous waste drop off facility that will replace the event format and allow more residents to dispose hazardous waste. Demolition is currently taking place on the site of the future Genesee County recycling facility.

Follow the Genesee County Metropolitan Planning Commission Facebook page and the GCMPC website for updates as work progresses on our new permanent facility.

Participants of Recycle Day events are supporting Genesee County’s goal of healthy, livable, and safe communities by taking part in a structured and organized approach to dealing with materials that pose a risk to Genesee County waterways and community spaces.
